Garshana translates from Sanskrit to mean rubbing or polishing.
In modern times, we call it exfoliation. Exfoliating the body
regularly helps to detoxify the system, move fat, stimulate
digestion, and bring energy to your day. It particularly can help
with weight loss, cellulite and water retention by improving
lymphatic drainage and circulation.
How to do Garshana massage:
Garshana Massage is done while the gloves and skin are still
dry, and shortly before your bath or shower. It can be performed as
quickly as 2 minutes, or, for even better results, as long as 10
The three main areas for the massage are the arms, abdomen, and
legs. For the arms, begin with circles on the shoulder and proceed
down the upper arm with back and forth strokes covering all
surfaces. Make circles on the elbow and then back and forth strokes
on the forearm. Resume making circles on the wrist. On the hand,
make back and forth movements emphasizing the spaces between each
finger. Repeat the same sequence on the other arm.
The gloves should be machine washed and dried, and will last a
long time even with daily use. Some fraying around the edges of the
gloves is normal, and long frays can be snipped away without worry
of damaging the gloves. They will get a little more rough over
time, which serves to increase their effectiveness.
